Abstract

The topic of this paper "living fossil - panda" is panda. It argues that pandas should be saved by human beings in China. There are three reasons for this argument. First, government should build pandas’ protection areas and formulate some policies and laws to save panda. Second, government has to improve the environment of the protection area and also they should use some public commercial to tell people how important panda is. Finally, government should give enough funds to scientists who study panda.

FW#5 Chinese Essays

In CESL, essays and papers are very common things that have to be done everyday. Maybe it is hard to somebody in other countries, but it is easier to Chinese students because we have written a lot of essays and papers during out high school life and even in Chinese universities. I say it is easy because we have written every day, and the pages limited are not hard to us. However, we use a different type of writing skills. In America, essays are written by order and value. However, Chinese people use a lot of adjectives and written by cycle. They want the reader to know how perfect the paper is. But Americans only tell the truth, because they think a paper is not a novel, they do not have to write several adjectives, and also it is academic. I think it is really a big difference between a Chinese essay and an American one. Actually, I study in America already three years. At first, no body can know what I write in my paper because it looks like a poem or something else. After that, the only way I can do is just to keep my mind, telling the truth, using the American way to write an American essay, that is it. Now I really like to write essays and papers because it is really following the American writing style. 

FW#4 Children Play Laptop

            PC an IMac are coming to our daily lives; all we know is that it is important. We can use it to search for information of all kinds of majors; to play on-line games all day long; and to chat with our friends. In other words, computer is the most important thing in our lives right now.

   

         How about children? Do we have to give children a laptop earlier in their lives? Yes, at the earlier age, they can easily to get information from computers or IMacs, and also PC or IMac can give them all the answers that they ask for. And they can be some step with other children who use computers at the same time. And also laptop is better than desktop, because it is easy to carry and it is really cool if you take it to school. Other children will be interested with your children, and they will communicate well. It is really a good sign for children growing well.

     

       However, there are still lots of bad things on the Internet, such as violence and adults websites. Laptops can still help children to learn a lot of knowledge that cannot be taught in school.  

FW#3 Global warming

Global warming is the first environmental problem that we need to solve. The main reason that causes global warming is greenhouse gas, such as carbon dioxide, methane and so on. Recently, it is really serious for my hometown, Shenyang, China. My city is located in the Northeast part of China. It is cold and dry. Average temperature was 28 degrees C in summer and -25 degrees C in wintertime before. However, it has already changed; average temperature is 38 degrees C in summertime and -10s degree C in wintertime right now. Global warming affects my city a lot. The reason takes lots of problem, such as economic problem (because of rebuilding all the heat systems and so on), health problem. Furthermore, there are a lot of people, they cannot adopt the weather, they will get some disease and they will feel tired all day long. So global warming is very serious problem in my country, especially in my hometown, Shenyang.

FW#2 Tiny cell phone

Looking at modern trends, are the cell phone has becomes tiner and cuter. We can look back 10 years. In 1998, Nokia 8800 was the most famous cell phone in China. It was large, had no color screen and was really complex to use. How about cell phone today? There are millions of choices, such as Blackberry, Nokia, Moto, and Sony. All of them believe that a tiny and high technology cell phone is perfect. For example, LG, a famous electric company, created a kind of cell phone that is called “chocolate.” It is really tiny and fashionable. And also, that one is my cell phone. It is really useful to me. I do not like to use a big cell phone; such as I phone 3D or Blackberry. It is too big. I think the future of cell phone is going to be tiny and fashionable, because people lie it that way. Furthermore, a cell phone can do lots of things that a computer can, such as sending e-mail, getting a date and shopping online. Those are more important to us. In the future, I think the cell phone companies will keep going this way and make it more technical.  

FW#1 The Storm in Carbondale

On May 8. 2009, there was a terrible storm in Carbondale. I had just told the ISS officer about my part time SIU class when I heard the alert warning of the storm. And then, all the people in ISS had to move to a basement near the ISS building. After 20 minutes, the alert was finished and we could go outside to see how terrible that was be. Exactly, damage was everywhere. Actually I had never seen a big storm like this time before. It is really amazing and horrible. Unfortunately, my car did not have enough gas any more. And the other worse thing happened, all of gas stations in Carbondale, Marion and Murphysboro were closed because power was down. Luckily, I had lots of good neighbors always; they shared their own gas with me, which helped me to leave Carbondale and go to St. Louis on the next day at midnight. I stayed in St. Louis for 5 days until the power was back. During this storm, I knew that it is perfect to have lots of friends when you are in trouble.

Protect The Real “Mermaid”---Dugong

Abstract

The topic of this paper is the conservation of dugongs. It argues that how people can protect dugongs from extinction in the modern world. There are three methods for this argument. First, We can build the dugong protection area. Second, we can make a law to control the hunter and protect dugongs. Finally, the UN or Greenpeace should control countries’ marine military.

Road Trip

Road Trip
I love traveling. My friends know it. They often call me to have a trip. However, sometimes they do not know why I like road trips. They said road trips are so tiring and so dangerous if you feel sleepy. But I do not think so. A road trip is the best way to have a short trip because you can drive and see the entire places that are beside the highway at the same time. When I prepare for a trip, I will order a hotel on the Internet. And then I just go with my favorite car. My biggest movement was when I drove 23 hours form Carbondale to Los Angeles and never stopped. I feel excited about road trips. I can see the animals, trees and the farmers. Isn’t it interesting? I really love road trips. However, it is not as fast as planes, it is not as comfortable as a boat and not as safe as a train. But it is really like a trip; you have a trip on the way, and also you can have a good trip when you arrive at your destination. If some people ask me what is your favorite way to travel, I just tell them I love road trips.
