The topic of this paper is the protection of endangered sea turtles. It argues that an amount of species are threatened in their lives as the world advances in civilization. Because of them, today mankind and species have gotten the environmental problems. Humans have to preserve both endangered sea turtles and the environment. There are three solutions for this argument. The first is that humans have to study about the endangered sea turtles and environmental problems. The second is that people have to reduce the human activities. Finally, humans should make a reservation for endangered sea turtles.

I usually use the Internet on computer. Nowadays, a lot of people in the world use the Internet and they get extensive information from a lot of web sites, especially, South Korea has transformed itself into one of the world’s most wired nations. We have a lot of web sites in the world; especially, I usually use the Yahoo. I use e-mail and messenger on Yahoo, and I try to find educational information through Yahoo’s search. I also look up the internet shopping mall because Yahoo in one of big companies has attached a great number of companies. Yahoo also has extensive search systems, so I can find some information every time when I want something. I can use the Yahoo maps when I want to travel somewhere, I can use the chat with people in the world. Yahoo gives me convenience and pleasure.

The High-Tech Cell Phone

Koreans are a fad-loving nation, so IT industries in Korea try to make new kinds of high-tech items every month; especially, cell phones in Korea try to lead the fashion. Most young people in Korea want to use a cell phone with new kinds of styles and new kinds of technical abilities, so they usually change their cell phone every year. When I used a cell phone with a lot of abilities like watching movies and watching television on cell phone, listening to music, and even extensive Internet abilities, I paid a lot of charges. Nowadays, I don’t have the free use of cell phone with extensive abilities because I want to use cell phone to communicate. I don’t want to know about various abilities of the cell phone. Today, cell phones in Korea have become miniature, so I feel that is inconvenient.

Land Reform for Human Race

Research Paper Proposal

I learned about “Biodiversity: Sustaining Soils and Producing Food” in Core class, so I was interested in land reform. Land reform is a change in the system of land ownership, especially when it involves giving land to the people who actually farm it and taking it away from people who own large areas for profit. Land reform can create new kinds of profits with estate use, land adjustment, and land improvement. According to Bruce’s article (2005), “El Charcote, a British cattle ranch in central Venezuela, has been singled out by the government as the launch-pad for its new push towards land reform” (para. 1). Land reform can be helped people who want to need land and land conservation. Knox (2003) reported that “Land reform has been one of the totems of the Scottish Parliament since its inception that it should finally give the land of Scotland back to the people of Scotland” (para. 3). In fact, land reform is against the spirit of democracy among some people today.

In my paper, I plan on writing that because land reform is one of solutions about various problems of estate. First of all, land reform is a good solution to the problem of limited land use because it makes the best use of land. Next, because land reform is possible in both productivity effects and land development, it should be enforced. In addition, land reform can stabilize the value of land because nowadays everything is becoming the object of speculation. Finally, land reform makes economic growth, so it is a good policy for human race.

I have found some articles that give land reform’s efficiency, advantages and disadvantages. In addition, I have found useful websites that will help me talk about the situations in countries that have adopted land reform programs.

Population Crisis

Have you ever heard population control policies? You might have heard them in the various mass media. We also learned about population control in educational programs. Presently, all the countries of the world are painfully anxious about the problem of overpopulation. In addition, today the earth has many kinds of serious problems of environment and endangered species because of an increase in population. People wonder whether population control policies should be put in place or not. In fact, population control policies have been in force to all the countries of the world and they show us several point of excellence: environmental preservation, better educational system, and improving welfare policy.

First of all, population control policies provide protection for serious problems of environment. The earth is limited to a fixed natural resources and land. Technological development has been quite remarkable in recent years, however, because of it, we have made the mining industry, reckless deforestation, land development and various indiscriminative industrial developments. As the result, we got many kinds of serious pollution, endangered species, even an international crisis like an ozone layer problem. However, we can protect our environmental problems and various natural resources when we give effect to population control policies. For example, people cannot create new land development and they also can economize natural resources. Moreover, we cannot need a territorial dispute for exploitation of resources and an ecosystem can sustain to ecological pyramid because they are lived the natural world by decreasing of population. In conclusion, we need to population control policies for environmental preservation.

Next, population control policies give us improving educational system. As the world advances in civilization, humans receive many kinds of new education and technical education. However, some people can not receive many kinds of curriculums because congestion of population has a wide gap between the rich and the poor. Population control policies make an offer various education and more systematic educational programs for many kinds of people. Government can make reform of educational system easily, so many kinds of people can receive individual upbringing. People can obtain a home education class and government can cultivate men of talent systematically. For example, People can receive an internet lecture, a small number of students in each class, the high-tech educational program. Uneducated people also can receive some education at various educational institutions. Finally, countries that are used population control policies can create many kinds of specialists or professional managers, so government can invest their money to make better new educational system. In conclusion, we can get great educational system because of population control policies.

Finally, countries which used population control policies can make better welfare society, so we will be live in prosperity, enjoying the blessings of welfare policy. As the world advances in civilization, people can live long and they want to need the high quality of lives. For example, if we get in an accident, government gives us medical insurance benefits and we can also use various facilities for the sake of convenience. We also don’t worry about the state of employment and the percentage of employment because government try to promote national prosperity. We can receive an improvement in living standards. Government can create better urban and environmental plan conveniently in town. They can also build many kinds of Natural Park and invest their money in the beauty of a city. For example, Ulsan is an industrial city in Korea so that Ulsan got serious problems of environmental pollution and government in Ulsan could not promote national prosperity. However, Ulsan is one of population control policies cities. Nowadays Ulsan has a clear river, many kinds of welfare facilities, very big Natural Parks and makes natural areas in the midtown area beautiful, so most of people in Ulsan generally enjoy their lives. In conclusion, population control policies can make better a welfare state.

Some people or some less developed countries don’t want population control policies put in place because they believe that a great many people create higher productivity and economic growth. They also believe that the number of population is economic power and state power. However, population control policies should be put in place because many countries that used population control policies create economic prosperity and the protection of environment. As we know, population control policies offer more money for each person. People in countries that are used population control policies earn a large income. Most of an income levels in less developed countries have a small income and they usually have a work at light industries because they have too many human resources, but most of people who believed population control policies make money to extensive fields of works more than people who don’t believed population control policies. Another point is that the hours of labor. People who don’t want population control policies have more physical labor works longtime, especially; they often don’t find a place to work because too many people want to get some jobs from restriction on employment. However, governments in population control policies try to shorten working hours. For instance, people in population control policies usually work an eight-hour day, five days a week in their companies. In conclusion, population control policies should be put in place for the quality of life.

In conclusion, for the growth of a country, population control policies should be put in place. Population control policies give people a good chance. The main points are environmental preservation, more good educational system, and a welfare policy. Therefore, we have to protect the earth and try to reduce the number of population for the future generation. From our efforts, our future generation will be provided a place with good surroundings and a stable livelihood.

EAP2

I think that the hardest thing about EAP2 is the capacity of time management. I heard that EAP2 class in CESL resembles closely a basic university education, but many kinds of international students don’t have a fluent command of the English language and they have the prominent points of difference like their major or their purpose. After finishing the EAP2 class, many students in EAP2 want to go to SIU, and most of the international students need to practice speaking and listening to English. However, they pass the hours pouring over a lot of homework and many international students who have a variety of majors or purposes also spend a lot of time studying the subject in EAP2 Core because they don’t express good English like Americans. So, many students in EAP2 haven’t had enough time to study the TOEFL and they also haven’t had enough time for conversation. I think that I’ve learned many kinds of English abilities in EAP2 and I’ve also learned the importance of time application in EAP2. Therefore, I think the importance of time application is the hardest thing about EAP2.

My Hometown

My hometown is Ulsan in South Korea. Ulsan is one of the principal cities and my hometown is an industrial city, so my hometown has developed a big shipbuilding industry, automobile manufacturing and the petroleum industry. Another name of Ulsan is Hyundai group's city. Especially, Ulsan is called "Motor town" because the main factory of Hyundai Motor lies in Ulsan. Many citizens in Ulsan are in the service of Hyundai Company. Ulsan has a lot of movement of population and population influx. The center of Ulsan has some public garden in the terrace land on the river, southern Ulsan has some beautiful seaside area, and northern Ulsan has a lot of mountainous area. My hometown is always an active city. However, I think that Carbondale is a quiet town and natural city. Carbondale has beautiful natural scenery and many kinds of wild animals. People in Carbondale seem quite satisfied and they enjoy their dilettante life in their free time. People in Carbondale have less pollution than my hometown's people; even people in Carbondale seem to know how to enjoy their life. Finally, I think that I live a happy life in Carbondale, so I don't yearn for my hometown.

My Favorite Movie "Once"

I have changed my favorite movie since I have watched a new movie. It is an independent movie of Europe, and its title is "Once". The contents of this movie are that a hero and a heroine in the movie express their lives in singing, even their dreams, and each other's heart. Also, they believe that music is in their lives, and they make something to live for because of the music. This movie also makes our lives beautiful with musical expression. I like to listen to all kinds of music, so I was interested in this movie. It freshens my point of view, and I think that it is a poetic movie.

I want to go to Manchester and London in England. I really love soccer, so I want to make a tour of England from my boyhood. Also, I want to experience it first-hand because my friends told me about the story of their experience in Europe. I want to see tourist attractions of England and I want to experience their ardent love of soccer. Manchester has a famous soccer team. Manchester United Soccer Team has a time-honored tradition and because of the soccer teams it is a famous tourist city. London also has many kinds of famous soccer teams and it has beautiful buildings and natural objects. Especially, I want to learn about all of the architectural buildings in England because I heard London has traditional buildings and people of London live to commune with nature. Finally, I want to see the England League at their stadiums and I want to make dear memories with my wife.

Wedding Culture in Korea

As everyone knows, marriage devotes all peoples' lives to a matter of the gravest concern. I got married 10 months ago, so I would like to tell you about the wedding culture in Korea. Today's wedding culture in Korea and wedding culture in a foreign country has something in common with each other, but when Koreans get married, they usually wear a Hanbok. Koreans wear a suit and dress to the marriage ceremony with guests; after that they wear a Hanbok and do their traditional marriage ceremony again with their parents. Hanbok is the native clothes of Korea. Finally, their parents talk to the bride and bridegroom with well-meant remarks, then the bride and bridegroom get a marriage bond.

Korea's fall Holiday (Hangawi)

I'm from South Korea; so I would like to talk about a fall holiday in Korea. Also known as Hangawi, it is a day of thanksgiving for a good harvest. This is one of the two biggest holidays in Korea. Families traditionally receive new clothes on this day and they pay their respects to their ancestors with wine, rice cakes, and newly harvested fruits and grains. Most families come home from all across the country to celebrate that day together. The day is not complete without the half-moon shaped rice cakes called "songpyon". Activities are held such as making Tduk, which is Korea's traditional style of rice cake, or making Songpyon, which is another type of Tduk.

My Favorite Music

I like all kinds of music, but nothing is more important than hip-hop music to me. Though I like all kinds of hip-hop groups, I really like the Drunken Tiger. They are a typical hip-hop group in Korea, and most people who like hip-hop music believe that they are a front-running group of the Korean musical world. I like to listen to Drunken Tiger because they often take a defiant attitude towards the rotten society and they always do it in their own way. Hip-hop never makes me bored and it dispels the gloom, as well. I listen to hip-hop music intensely while studying at home and working on the computer, even before going to bed. Hip-hop music is my friend and a tonic as well.

People have different opinions about a good friend. Some people choose friends with whom they have a lot in common. Others make friends with people much different from themselves. I think that a good friend is similar to me, and "a friend in need is a friend indeed." A good friend also has much in common interests with me. A good friend guides me into the right path when I have a bad habit or a difficult problem. For example, I have had 5 good friends for 11 years. They and I always try to help one another, and I also try to act in good faith for them. Although we live different lives, we always desire to be happy with one another. When my grandmother died of disease, my friends mourned my grandmother's death like their grandmother's death, and they always defended me from sadness. I believe that I can make a good friend if I always trust the friend and I devote myself to the friend.
