-EAP2 class- Fluency Exercise #8
David
EAP2 A WW
Fluency Exercise #8
- EAP 2 Class –
I am one of those EAP2 students. This semester is my first semester to take a EAP2 class. EAP2 class is so much harder than EAP1 and there are lots of homework assignments in core and writing classes. In core class, we are using on undergraduate textbook, so it is so difficult to students. In writing class, the teacher hands out lots of work that includes a summary response, research paper and synthesis essay, so students need to work hard. One of my Korean friends like “Choi” said to me, “You need to work hard and focus on EAP2 class because the university is much harder than EAP2 class”. In EAP2 class, students who are working hard in this class will get many skills in writing and lots of information about some news article, and many other things. To take EAP2 class is so stressful, but it is useful.

Abstract
The topic of this paper is global warming ruined our coral reefs. It argues that human being makes fast global warming and global warming may ruin our coral reefs. There are four reasons for this argument. The third reason is people should conservation our forest. Finally, global warming ruin our coral reefs range with hot temperature.

Fluency EX #7 -Food-
- Food -
Most Korean foods have some spicy taste with not much grease, such as Kimchi, Bulgogi, Jock-Bal, Soon-Dae and so on; those things are not very greasy. However, American foods are very greasy and salty. For example, when I came to America the first time, I ordered pizza, but it is so different in style and taste. Koreans make pizza in a special way; as topping, they have sweet potato, Bulgogi and Kimchi pizza, so we have lots of taste and it is not greasy, but Americans' pizzas are not. I missed Dduck-Bbock-E and Soon-Dae; I miss those things so much.
Next summer, I will go home to take a vacation; I will eat them very much and bring them here. Right now I really want to eat Korean food.

- Movies -
My favorite movie is Titanic. I think everyone in the world knows about this movie because it is a very big and real event from the past. The Titanic was the biggest and grandest ship, so many people didn't think it would sink but it did. When the Titanic hit the iceberg, it was going to sink. The event of hitting the iceberg is possible because people can make mistakes, but there is another mistake made by the captain. When the ship was sinking they needed enough rescue boats, but the captain didn't want them because he wanted the ship to be good looking. When they were rescuing people, rich people had an advantage. This is so crazy in this terrible situation. Actually, it was the winter season, so many people died in the cold water. It is a really tragic affair, but this reason is why I like this movie, because this movie showed me people's self sufficiency, vanity and something like this. This movie gives me an instructive lesson.

-vacation- Fluency Exercise #5
I live in Carbondale, so I think the best place to take a vacation is Chicago. Because Chicago is near here, we can take a car to go and it is cheaper than other big cities and Chicago is big enough to sight-see and shop. The costs depend on the purpose, if people want to take a sight-seeing tour, it is going to not be too expensive, but shopping and something like that will be expensive. Chicago has many popular places to see; such as the Shed Aquarium, The Field Museum and the John Hancock Building and so on. Many people visit Chicago for those things. Chicago is also good for shopping. Actually, Chicago is the biggest city in the Illinois state and the center of America, so Chicago has many kinds of fancy clothes brands and unique stuff such as oriental stuff; many kinds of goods come in through to Chicago. So Chicago is a good place to take a vacation from Carbondale.

summary response #4 -Technology-
-Technology-
Nowdays, many kinds of robots are being invented. Actually, some kinds of simple working robots are used in Car Company's factories or something like this area. That machine, actually, doesn't have any emotion or expression but robots are changing. Many countries make robots for many purposes. Big Japanese companies such as Honda, Suzuki, and Sanyo make dancing, singing and emotional robots. Japan is the strongest country in the world with technology. In America, they usually make robots for war. They use robots for observing dangerous areas and fighting instead of people. It is not for normal people, just for benefit of the country. In Korea, they invent new styles of robots. The robots recognize human voice, and they have emotional expressions. So when people say some bad words to the robots, the robots have a voice with face. That robot has eyebrows, nose, and eyelids so it can make expressions with its face. Robots are so interesting to us but I wonder if the same things can happen as in the Movie "I-Robot", where the robots are out of control and they try to control people. That is a crazy thing to happen, so I hope scientists just make robots with limits in moderation.

Language Change - Fluency Exercise #3 -
Nowadays, using the Internet is the most popular communication tool in Korea. People from young children to adults use it. So we use a variety of new words. Korean words have too many derived words, so we can say something so many different ways with the same meaning, such as saying "hello", we can use hallo, hullo, and hollo instead; pronounciation is different but it could be the same meaning. However, there are some problems; for example teenagers who just started learning Korean and use the Internet a lot of the time with new chat words forget the normal way to write down Korean words. They just write down new words because they don't know what is wrong with them. It is a big problem in Korea; Korea is strong with information technology but that makes people sick from the Internet.
Most children and teenagers are addicted to the Internet; when they come home from outside, they start the computer and do the Internet. They do not exercise with their friends; they just like to play online games with strangers or their friends. They don't like to play something with a ball or something outside, so most of the children's average heights are taller than adults, but they are weak. That is a big problem now in Korea.

Environment - Fluency Exercise #2 -
- Environment -
Korea's weather has been changing for 10 years. Some facts are that animal species are changing such as bugs, fish, birds and so on. Many of them are coming from foreign countries. They cause new illness to Korean people. In the case of fishermen in the sea, they are almost bankrupt because of fish species changing due to global warming.
Moreover, our native animals cannot live with new species, because the new species are big and strong, and they don't know about their habitat. So native animals are killed by new species. New species are breaking down the ecological pyramid, such as: the frog from America eating our snakes; "Bass", the fish from America, eating everything under the water; it doesn't make any sense. Our native species can find just a small area or become extinct. We have some good things from global warming, but more things are bad for us. Those things are a big problem nowadays in Korea.

Fluency Exercise #1 -Technology-
Nowdays, many people use communication technology in their life, but I do not much like those things, because of addiction.
First of all, people use cell phones anywhere and everywhere. It makes life easy in that they can have conversations anywhere. So they always take it in their pocket. But here is some problem; some people can't live without cell phones; if they left cell phones at home or somewhere, they can't do anything.
Next, we can use messenger system by computer. So we can meet people from anywhere. We can do many things with messengers, but some bad people use messenger for their own purpose such as kidnap or rape. That is such a big problem.
Third, we can use text message. Some people do not much like to take a call, so some of them use text messages. That is an easy way to send their own emotion or what they want to talk about, but they will be lazy.
In conclusion, they have many kinds of communication technology in the world; those things make people's lives easy, but by using them too much, people will become addicted to them. We should take care of those things for ourselves. We have to handle those things for our healthy life.
